    SQL Server DBA position - TEKSystems

     A TEKsystems client is searching for a SQL DBA. The company’s current Applications Engineers have been performing the Database Admin and Development duties.  They have grown to a point where they must have a dedicated resource that can perform Database Administration and make choices regarding the tools used to manage the database as their customer base grows. The SQL Database stores all of the information that communications systems pull their information from. They have signed a large number of clients recently and it is causing very rapid growth of the amount of Database information they must store and, as a result, changes they must make to it. They do not have many tools in place yet and would look to this individual to choose them. There will be a great deal of work involved in analyzing and profiling the database and in turn, this person will "tune" the database and create and roll out schema changes. They must be a versatile individual and be the "go to" person for all issues concerning the Database. This will be a very fast-paced, energetic environment and they will need to have a personality and work ethic that fits well into that. Duties/Required Skills:

    -Relational Database Experience
    -Disaster Recovery
    -Performance Analysis and Tuning
    -Data Dictionary Maintenance
    -Administration as well as Database Schema exposure
    -Stored Procedures
    -Recoverability
    -Creating and testing Backups
    -Integrity
    -Verifying or helping to verify data integrity
    -Security
    -Defining and/or implementing access controls to the data
    -Availability
    -Ensuring maximum uptime
    -Performance
    -Ensuring maximum performance
    -Development and testing support: helping programmers and engineers to efficiently utilize the database. Nice to haves:
    -Load-balancing
    -Database Design/Architecture
    -SQL Development
